Frankton
Connecting the Frankton Track with the Twin Rivers Trail is the hub of Frankton.
Here you'll find local amenities aplenty and it's the ideal first night if you are riding the 4 day Queenstown Trail including the Jack's Point trail. With multiple options for sleeping, eating, drinking and shopping. You will also find bike hire if you are starting your journey here or bike repair if you are in need.
Frankton Beach is shaded and sandy, plus the lake is shallow (even warm at times) at this point – a great place to enjoy a quick paddle to cool those hot feet.
With stunning views up to The Remarkables mountain range, uninterrupted views down Lake Wakatipu and a huge fresh produce and gifts market on every Saturday in summer, Frankton offers much more than a transition between trails.
The historic Kawarau Falls Bridge is currently being restored and is pedestrian traffic only, with informative panels to read and learn about the failed attempts to dam this mighty lake – all for the sake of gold.
